On Entering Spiritual Seclusion without Supervision of a Shaykh

Answered by Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him)

Is it possible for a seeker to enter khalwah (spiritual seclusion) without the supervision of a shaykh?

This is like someone taking medicine without the supervision of a doctor. There may be general benefit in taking the medicine, but the patient will not receive full treatment without the supervision of the doctor.

Can the seeker be involved in business?

On Attaining Barakah in Our Time

Answered by Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him)

How do we attain barakah (blessings) in our time?

Ask Allah for this, have conviction and resolve in your affairs, do not be lazy and do not procrastinate. Truly seek assistance from Allah and rid yourself of the illusion of possessing any power or strength. Strive to engage in that which is beneficial and that which helps you to focus upon Allah. Striving at the beginning of the path will lead to witnessing at the end of the path. That which tires you at the beginning will bring ease at the end.
