Our Relationship with the Prophet ﷺ

Advice from Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him).

People’s ranks and the gifts which they receive from Allah vary according to their relationship with Muhammad ﷺ. Some perfect their following of him and the gifts they receive in this life and the next are beyond description. In Paradise they will hear the tidings of:

“Peace!” – a word of salutation from a Lord Most Merciful.1

Others will be told, those whose hearts have not attained true love and following: “Distance yourselves this Day, O wrongdoers!”2

Allah then reminds us of the covenant which we have taken with Him, that we should not worship the Devil. It is the Devil who distances you from obeying Him, from following his path and loving him ﷺ.

“And that you should worship Me, this is the Straight Path”3 – worship Me through following the Imam of all the worshippers ﷺ, by submitting to his command. Allah says, addressing His Messenger: No, By your Lord, they do not attain (true) faith until they make you the judge in their disputes and find in their souls no resistance to your decisions but rather accept them with complete submission.4

Realise how far you have fallen short in submitting to his judgement ﷺ so purify your soul from delusion, do not cheat yourself and surrender to the Imam.
