Sayyidi Habib Umar (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him) teaches us that true glory is in attaining two things: truly realising Allah’s oneness and absolute servitude to Him.
This prayer is taken from Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz’s collection of prayers using Allah’s beautiful names in which he calls upon Allah by His beautiful names and then asks Him to bestow prayers upon His Beloved by those names. Finally, he asks Allah for a portion of those attributes which belong to Allah and which He has bestowed upon His Messenger ﷺ.
اللَّهُمَّ يا اللهُ يا مَجِيدُ صَلِّ على عَبْدِكَ و حَبِيبِكَ سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ المَجِيدو على آلِهِ و صَحْبِهِ و سَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً و اجْعَلْ لِي بِحَقِيقَةِ التَّوْحِيدِ و تَحْقِيقِ العُبُودِيِّةِ المَحْضَةِ الخَالِصَةِ لَكَ مَجْداً أَكِيدَاً
Allāhumma yā Allāhu yā Majīdu ṣalli ‘alā ‘abdika wa ḥabībika sayyidinā Muḥammad an-Nabī al-Majīd wa ‘alā ālihi wa ṣaḥbihi wa sallim taslīman wa’ja’l lī bi ḥaqīqati’ttawḥīdi wa taḥqīqi’l-‘ubūdiyyati’l-maḥḍati’l-khāliṣati laka majdan akīdā
O Allah, O Glorious One, bestow abundant prayers and peace upon Your slave and beloved, our Master Muhammad, the glorious Prophet and upon his Family and Companions, and bestow great glory upon me by allowing me to realize the reality of Your oneness and to attain pure and absolute servitude to You.
