Allah says: “Blessed be the name of your Lord, the Lord of Majesty and Generosity (55:78).” The Prophet ﷺ would often call upon Allah by this name and it has been narrated that it is Allah’s greatest name. It combines the attributes of majesty and beauty and inspires in the slave both hope and fear.
Here Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz teaches us to ask Allah by this name to bestow prayers upon His Beloved, who possesses these same attributes of majesty and generosity and to bless us with these attributes.
اللَّهُمَّ يا اللهُ يا ذا الجَلالِ و الإِكْرَام صَلِّ على عَبْدِكَ و حَبِيبِكَ سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ الجَليلِ الكَرِيم ِو على آلِهِ و صَحْبِهِ و سَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً و هَبْ لَنا بِهِ جَلالاً و جَمالاً و كَمالاً و إِكْرَاماً و أَكْرِمْنا بِما أَنْتَ أَهْلُهُ أَبَداً سَرْمَداً
O Allah, O Lord of Majesty and Generosity, bestow abundant prayers and peace upon Your slave and beloved, our Master Muhammad, the majestic and generous Prophet and upon his Family and Companions, and by him bless us with majesty, beauty, perfection and nobility. Ennoble us forevermore as only You are worthy of doing
