This prayer is taken from Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz’s collection of prayers using Allah’s beautiful names in which he calls upon Allah by His beautiful names and then asks Him to bestow prayers upon His Beloved by those names. Finally, he asks Allah for a portion of those attributes which belong to Allah and which He has bestowed upon His Messenger ﷺ. In this prayer, he calls upon Allah, the Wondrous to bestow prayers upon His Beloved, the most wondrous of His creation in every sense.
اللَّهُمَّ يا اللهُ يا بَدِيعُ صَلِّ على عَبْدِكَ و حَبِيبِكَ سَيِّدِنا مُحَمَّدٍ النَّبِيِّ أَبْدَعِ خَلْقِكَ رُوحاً و جِسْماً حِسَّاً و مَعْنىً ظاهِراً و باطِناً أَوَّلاً و آخِراً و على آلِهِ و صَحْبِهِ و سَلِّمْ تَسْلِيماً، و هَبْ لي بِهِ بَدائِعَ المعَارِفِ و العُلُومِ و الشُّهُودَ الأَسْنى و مَكِّني بِهِ تَمْكِيناً
Allahumma ya Allahu ya Badi’u salli ‘ala ‘abdika wa habibika sayyidina Muhammad an-Nabi abda’i khalqika ruhan wa jisman wa hissan wa ma’nan zahiran wa batinan awwalan wa akhiran wa ‘ala alihi wa sahbihi wa sallim taslīman wa hab li bihi bada’i`a’l-ma’arifi wa’l-‘ulumi wa’shuhuda’-asna wa ma makkinni bihi tamikina
O Allah, the Wondrous, bestow abundant prayers and peace upon Your slave and beloved, our Master Muhammad, the Prophet, the most wondrous of all Your creatures from the first of them to the last – spiritually and physically, outwardly and inwardly – and upon his Family and Companions. By him bestow upon me wondrous knowledge of You and Your creation and the most splendid type of divine witnessing. By him make me completely firm in all of this.
