Habib Ali al-Jifri (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him) explains that the essence of our transaction with Allah is closeness (qurb). We realise this when we reflect upon what Allah says in the Qur’an.
The essence of acts of worship is closeness: “Prostrate and draw close.” (96:19)
The essence of vigilance (muraqabah) is closeness: “We are closer to him than his own jugular vein.” (50:16)
The essence of excellence (ihsan) is closeness: “Truly the mercy of Allah is close to the people of excellence.” (7:56)
The essence of repentance (tawbah) is closeness: “So seek His forgiveness and then repent to Him, for truly My Lord is Close and Responsive.” (11:61)
The essence of guidance (hidayah) is closeness: “If I find guidance it is due to that which my Lord reveals to me, for truly He is All-Hearing, Close.” (34:50)
The essence of supplication (du’a) is closeness: “If My slaves ask about Me, truly I am close.” (2:186)
Allah is closest at the last moment before we meet Him: “We are closer to him than you, although you are unaware of this.” (56.85)
Allah is the Close One (al-Qarib).
O Allah, make us among those who You love and those who You have singled out to receive Your closeness, for You are the Close One.

القُرْب هو جوهر المعاملة مع الله
جوهر الطاعات هو القرب .. {..واسجد و”اقترب”}
جوهر المراقبة هو القرب.. {ونحن “أقرب” إليه من حبل الوريد}
جوهر الإحسان هو القرب.. {إن رحمة الله “قريب” من المحسنين}
جوهر التوبة هو القرب.. {..فاستغفروه ثم توبوا إليه إن ربي “قريب” مجيب}
جوهر الهداية هو القرب .. {..وإن اهتديت فبما يُوحي إليّ ربي إنه سميع “قريب”}
جوهر الدعاء هي القرب.. {وإذا سألك عبادي عني فإني قريب..}
جوهر لحظة الرحيل إلى لقاء الله تعالى هو القرب.. {ونحن “أقرب” إليه منكم ولكن لا تبصرون}
“والله عز وجل هو “القريب
اللهم إجعلنا ممن أصطفيتهم وأحببتهم واجتبيتهم وارتضيتهم لحقائق قربك يا قريب
