The Mi’raj and the Honour of Servanthood

When Allah wished to bestow the greatest praise upon our Master Muhammad ﷺ ..

In the context of the greatest blessing that He bestowed upon him on the Isra and Mi’raj..

On the greatest night of the Prophet’s life, because it was the night on which he saw his Lord..

When Allah wanted to remind him of the greatness of that night and the greatness of His blessing, He said: “Transcendent is the One Who caused His servant to travel by night..”

He did not say, “His Messenger,” even though he is Allah’s Messenger. He did not say, “His Beloved,” even though He is Allah’s Beloved ﷺ .

Why? Because the highest rank that someone can reach is to truly realise their servanthood to Allah. We are all Allah’s servants, even those who disbelieve in Allah. But what is meant is to live your life in a state of true servanthood to Allah, because this is to recognise your true reality, and this, in turn, allows you to realise the ultimate reality in existence, which is Allah, the Most Loving, glorified is He.
