Lessons From the Life of Hababah Zahra

Sayyidi Habib Ali al-Jifri (may Allah preserve him and benefit us by him) derives lessons from the life of Hababah Zahra bint Hafiz al-Haddar (may Allah have mercy upon her).

Every soul will taste death, and surely you will only be paid your reward in full on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever is taken away from the Fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. What is the life of this world except the enjoyment of delusion? (3:185) Continue reading Lessons From the Life of Hababah Zahra

Remembering Hababah Zahra

Extracts from a talk delivered by Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him) in remembrance of his mother, Hababah Zahra bint Hafiz al-Haddar (may Allah have mercy upon her).

“In this gathering we remember this noble woman and her departure from this life: a life full of tests, a life in which one takes provision for the next life. Few people live to her age, to be among those that the Messenger of Allah mentioned:

‘The best of you are those who are blessed with long life and good works.’ Continue reading Remembering Hababah Zahra

The Passing of Habib Ja`far bin Ahmad al-Habashi

To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.

On 6th Sha`ban 1436/ 24th May 2015 Hadramawt lost one of its spiritual leaders, Habib Ja`far bin Ahmad al-Habashi. He passed away in his native city of Sayun after a lifetime spent in service of the Ummah. He embodied the principles of the Ba `Alawi path: knowledge (`Ilm), action (`Amal), fear of Allah (Khawf), sincerity (Ikhlas) and Scrupulousness (Wara`). He was the son of the great Habib Ahmad bin Musa al-Habashi and a direct descendant of Habib Ahmad bin Zayn al-Habashi, perhaps the greatest of Imam al-Haddad’s students.

Habib Kazim al-Saqqaf would never miss his weekly lesson in Sayun and Habib Umar bin Hafiz would visit him whenever he came to Sayun. He visited him shortly before his death.

May Allah raise him to the highest of stations and benefit us by his legacy.

Say: ‘This is My Path’ | Wisdoms of Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad

Words of wisdom from Habib Ahmad Mashhur al-Haddad (may Allah have mercy on him and benefit us by him).

Allah says to His Prophet  : “Say: ‘This is my path..’”[1]

With this command Allah honours the Prophet and affirms his station. The command also contains the meaning of granting permission (ijazah). The ijazah is one of the foundations of the religion and is especially important in the science of hadith. Scholars traditionally give each other ijazah and shaykhs give their students ijazah. The ijazah is an affirmation of what is contained in the heart of the person receiving it and is a means for the pious to exchange secrets with one another.
