Salawat with Allah’s Beautiful Names: Ya Muqaddim

This prayer is taken from Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz’s collection of prayers using Allah’s beautiful names in which he calls upon Allah by His beautiful names and then asks Him to bestow prayers upon His Beloved by those names. Finally, he asks Allah for a portion of those attributes which belong to Allah and which He has bestowed upon His Messenger ﷺ.

O Allah, the One who gives precedence to some over others, bestow abundant prayers and peace upon Your slave and beloved, our Master Muhammad, the Prophet who has been given absolute precedence, and upon his Family and Companions, and by him give me precedence in the stations of servitude and obedience to You.

Insights into Purification: Washing Your Arms

When you perform wudu, it is obligatory to completely wash your arms from your fingertips up to and including your elbows . To ensure you have done this, you must also wash a little above your elbows, for that which is required to fulfill an obligation is in itself obligatory.

When you perform wudu, the sins you have committed with your hands disappear with the last drop of water that runs off your arms. Continue reading Insights into Purification: Washing Your Arms

Fasting on 27th Rajab

Answered by Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him)

Is it recommended to fast on the day after the night of the Isra and Mi’raj (27th Rajab)?

Generally speaking fasting in the sacred months is better than fasting in the other months. There is a sound hadith in which Ibn Umar was asked whether the Prophet ﷺ used to fast in Rajab. He said: “Yes, and he would ennoble it (meaning the month of Rajab).” Some of the pious recommend fasting on the day of the Isra and Mi’raj but it is not something that has been directly narrated on the authority of the Prophet ﷺ . Above all, we should seek a true connection with the Prophet, the one who was taken on the Isra and Mi`raj.

Salawat with Allah’s Beautiful Names: Ya Ahad (the Unique)

This prayer is taken from Sayyidi Habib Umar bin Hafiz’s collection of prayers using Allah’s beautiful names in which he calls upon Allah by His beautiful names and then asks Him to bestow prayers upon His Beloved by those names. Finally, he asks Allah for a portion of those attributes which belong to Allah and which He has bestowed upon His Messenger ﷺ.

O Allah, O Unique One, bestow abundant prayers and peace upon Your slave and beloved, our Master Muhammad, the Prophet who praises You the most and upon his Family and Companions, and by him allow me to completely witness the secret of Your uniqueness.
